Our Mission

Alempour International Foundation was founded in 1996, after the death of Mohieddin Alempour, a well-known Tajik photographer and journalist, as well as the BBC correspondent at the time, to commemorate his memory.

Alempour Foundation was initially founded to safeguard and maintain Mohieddin Alempour's archives, which consists of thousands of valuable historical and cultural photos never seen before.

Among the other goals of the Alempour International Foundation is to help in promoting photo and multimedia journalism in Tajikistan. Due to the ever more important role of the Internet and websites in our daily lives, as well as in the way we see and follow news, multimedia journalism has become vital in updating the population with the most recent and important news and features.

Although multimedia journalism has still not become popular in Tajikistan, it is the way of the future. Multimedia needs to be promoted for the future development of journalism and freedom of press. For this reason The Foundation has held multimedia trainings, which introduced this new but important type of journalism to young and promising journalists.
